A Little History

Piercy VFD Benefit Poker Run and Rally

Four years ago, a meeting was held among Piercy residents to come up with ideas on how we could best support our volunteer fire district. The usual bake sales, barbeques and quilt raffle themes were mentioned. It was over morning coffee the next day that my wife, Angie, asks, “Why don’t we just have a poker run?” Having been a life long rider, I certainly couldn’t think of a more generous bunch of folks, willing to donate to a good cause and have a good time in the process. Having been the original founder of the Piercy VFD, we decided to name our poker run after Charlie Kirk. In short order, Doug McCaully of Riverview Productions, and owner of the Riverview Ranch was gracious enough to offer his site to hold the rally. In the past we’ve had the Clint Warner Band, The Nestburys and Black Sands perform there. Raffle prizes were supplied by local merchants, and tri-tip dinners were served up by the hard working community volunteers. The poker runs have always been great little loops throughout the Redwoods and up the coast by a good natured crowd of mostly Harley riders. This year the staff at the Peg House have offered to host the event. I believe this will better serve an ever growing group of riders. This change in venue will offer over night camping, general store, gas and paved parking. On stage will be none other than the Tommy Castro Band. Angie and I look forward to seeing you all and thank you in advance for supporting our volunteer fire fighters.

Thanks, and Ride Safe.
